Federal American Eagle Good for plinking?

I'm thinking of buying 1000 rnds of this stuff in .40 S&W for $16/box for plinking. I'm tired of not being able to find ammo at the local stores when I want to go to the range and would like to have a decent supply for a few months at least.
I already have 1200 rnds 180 gr HST that I use as defensive ammo, so I'm just looking for something that is reasonably accurate, reliable, and not too dirty for range work and target shooting.
Thanks.

Oh yeah.Plus it's REALLY good brass,so it should last you indefinitely.

Federal AE is excellent range ammo. Use it all the time. I've shot about 1000 rounds each of 9mm and .40 and it's been flawless stuff. Reasonably clean, quality brass, etc.
1200 rounds of HST??? You expecting zombies?? :)

I've used it in a variety of calibers in a variety of firearms. I like it. The price is right, and it's good brass for yourself or for your reloading friends.

American Eagle is my favorite range ammo. I don't even like shooting anything else at the range. Dont get me wrong, I will shoot other stuff but I LOVE American Eagle.

I've also had good experience with American Eagle. I really want to find some more bulk for range time.

It's top of the line range ammo IMHO.
If you don't mind my asking, who has this ammo in stock now?

I don't have a .40, but I have shot A LOT of Federal's "American Eagle" brand in .22, .38, .357 and .45ACP
Good ammo in each calibre.
Now, avoid "American Ammo" brand made in Florida. Not affiliated with Federal. If you get offered any of that brand, "Run away, Forrest! Run away!"

Ammunitiontogo.com has it in stock for $16/box, but there is a 4-5 day wait before the orders ship.

check your local dicks sporting goods. They have umc remington advertised, but they substituted Federal and CCI blazers for it.
Bought 9mm.

A big +1 to that!
I use AE exclusively in .45acp (well, until I use the whole case up). Good ammo (a tad dirty but no worse than other range ammo) and the brass is great to reload...very uniform.
I've also used a lot of it in .38spl (their 130gr FMJ). Dirty yes, but very reliable ammo also with good uniform brass to reload. Primers were sealed with red sealant on this ammo.
Also used it in .40 with same results.

I really like AE for range ammo. It's cheaper than WWB and cleaner than Blazer Brass.
