Nothing lasts forever, not even Belgian red tape : in november last year I posted on THR that I was planning to buy a 2" barreled S&W mod.15-3. Well, my "authorization to buy" came through last week. That's "only" a 5- month "waiting period", which is considered high-speed service in local circles.

Anyway, I took my new snub shooting yesterday . Great fun.
Being used to my 4" S&W 15-3, I did not expected any big surprises, although the snub's balance felt so different from that of its longer barreled counterpart, it actually seemed heavier to hold.
Another very noticeable difference was that it seemed harder to correctly evaluate possible sighting errors due to the shorter sighting plane;
And finally : the snub is far less forgiving of any carelesness in trigger pull : when I mised, I missed by far:
12 shots DA at 15 meters gave me a 2.5" 8-shot group plus 4 shots way out there, 6" from that group : one north, one south, one south--west & one south-east. I'll have to work on that. (although I wouldn't call it "work")

Oh yes, about ageing :
Our shooting club lavishly celebrated its 25th birthday last week, in great style (with cannonfire & everything) and members of long standing (more than 20 years) were particularly honored.
So I'm an officially acknowledged old coot now : I have the commemorative medal to prove it.

For sure a short sight radius is unforgiving. My preference is 4 3/4" or 5" if they made it.
Someday if I live long enough I'd like to visit your war museum. As I recall they have the only US 1859 McClellan saddle in existance, and it is mint condition.
