Hello,

I am interested in .22lr Heritage info. Just looking for a cheap 22 to plink with. Thanks for the help!

I am looking at the Rough Rider also. Its difficult to find a used Ruger Single Six let alone one for a good price. Word has it the Herratige guns are accurate and hold up well. The one drawback is that they have fixed sights. I likely wouldn't be switching between the two cylinders so the fixed sights would not be that bad. Find the ammo that is accurate in it and stick with it after fine tuning the sights to POA.

I have had no personal, hands on, experience with the Rough Riders, but, two of my friends own gun shops. They have sold a mess of these revolvers, over the years, and both claim that they have never had one come back to them. That should speak to their reliability. Accuracy - don't know.

I had one for awhile. Great plinking sixguns & easy to carry on the trail. Mine was a convertible & always seemed more accurate w/ the .22Mag cylinder than the .22lr. Only bad thing about them was the skimpy sights. I ended up trading mine toward a Buckmark Camper.

It's a great plinking gun, but I'd choose something else w/ better sights for hunting or serious target shooting.

Great little guns for the price.

The sights are patterned after the SAA - basically the same as a Vaquero.

Bought the Rough Rider combo at the gun show in Tucson last weekend. Cost for brand new 22LR and 22 Mag combo was $155. Took it out shooting and absolutely love it. 22LR was surprisingly accurate. 22 Mag shot a little higher but didn't care for the way the cartrdge expanded in the cylinder. Made it difficult to extract. Found out one of the guys at work bought one for his wife as a snake shooter. Only loads .22 snake shot. He's used it once and at 5 feet, head shot killed the snake.

I too was looking for an inexpensive .22 revolver and picked up a rough rider nickel plated w/fake pearl grips (they haven't made these for over 6 years now). Had both cylinders and even a belt buckle. Paid $125 after all the fees for nics and such. Gun was $100 in the case.

I have one of these as well as a Ruger Single Six, both have the dual cylinders. While the Ruger is a better revolver, the Rough Rider ain't no slouch. Mine is accurrate with either cylinder and I've had 0 problems with it. If you want a cheap plinker, I would highly recommend one of these.

I've had one for several years. I have no idea how many rounds I've pumped through it but it's in the thousands. It's accurate. Ditto on the sights. For $135 complete with both cylinders, box, and 100 rounds of ammo it was a nice deal.

My dad's got one with like a 8" barrel (Not sure of the exact length, but it's longer than the 6" on my Ruger Single Six). He shoots it often and has never had a bit of trouble with it except that I had to "adjust" the fixed front sight for him to get it on POA. I've shot it a bit also and as far as I can tell, it's just as accurate as my Single Six.
