I have my Fathers Mauser from WW 2. Who do I contact to research its history? Its in excellent condition and need to be able to keep it in top shape for preservation.

Go to www.surplusrifle.com . They have a subforum about German Pistols. That would probably be the best place to start asking questions.

I don't know how much "history" can be traced on them. You might be able to find a year of manufacture, but my guess is that will be about all you can find. Generally speaking, the Mauser HSc was a commercial pistol. It was not adopted by the military. (Some single units may have been issued them, but they weren't in widespread military use.)

ETA-BTW, I would recommend not posting the full SN on the net. X-out the last 2-3 numbers in the SN.
