I recently was given a Beretta AL 2 20 gauge. The gun is in pretty decent shape, but did suffer through four feet of water for a short time during Hurricane Ike last year. It needs a good internal scrub and inspection because rust on the action inside the receiver. The problem is that I have zero experience with these Berettas and need a disassembly diagram. Does anyone have a lead for this information?
Thanks -

Check the Beretta website for Owner's Manuals. I think they have them online. Disassembly instructions are pretty good, but if you have zero experience taking guns apart, you may need some assistance.
You might get someone who has a Beretta autoloader to help you. BTW, be sure to remove the recoil spring from the buttstock and clean and oil it and the tube it runs in.

Cool, thanks for the info.
Don't let the post count fool you; I am not new to guns, just new to this one. Because it's got some rust (and therefore some frozen parts), I need a visual about how things are supposed to come apart and go together, or if they come apart at all. Currently some things aren't interested in letting go of each other, even if they are supposed to.

Found this in another thread:

Looks like it will do the trick.

The AL-2 is really straightforward to take apart once you get the hang of it. Unscrew the forend nut, pull off the forend, then pull out the barrel. Pop the pins out of the trigger assembly, then the bolt comes out the front when you have the button on the receiver pressed. Make sure you clean the gas piston (in the end of the forend) and the bolt, and clean the gas holes out (in the barrel about halfway up).
Good luck.. I love my AL-2 12 ga.

Make sure the bolt is locked in the rear position before removing the forearm retaining nut.
Take a ballpoint pen or straightened paperclip to remove the piston guide rod assy by depressing the pin in the drilled hole ( it is in the end of the mag tube ). Be cautious - the magazine spring is under a little preload.
Hold the bolt and release gently after the barrel is removed. Pull firmly on the bolt handle to remove. Slide the bolt out.
Make SURE the the hammer is cocked when you do this -otherwise you have to re cock the hammer to remove the bolt.
Remove the trigger assy by removing the retaining pin ( either direction works ) then slightly depress the bolt release and work the trigger assy forward and down.
Remove the butt pad/plate and take a socket and remove the stock retaining nut and washer. #1 Phillips works to get thru the butt pad, but oil the tip before you push it into the rubber pad - it will save a tear.
Remove the stock and lube the recoil spring - it took the worst of the water.
Some new parts are available at Coles or Midwest
