It's been awhile since I've seen a thread for these. Anybody got anything new ( or old ) they'd like to share pictures of?
I wish I could start, but I don't own anything that would qualify:(
Thanks,
Tuckerdog1

Grips are by Kirk Ratajesak. The Colt Series 70 doesn't have a BBQ holster yet.

Guns that you bust out at a BBQ or other get together and say "Oh hey look at this!" More often that not this weapon would sit in storage due to the age, cost of ammo, or lack of desire to shoot it. EX: Gold Desert Eagle :D

More like Anne Richards and the Texas Rangers invite you for a BBQ, what gun would you wear? Texas Rangers are known for tastefully engraved 1911's that are still more function than flash.

A BBQ gun is a fancy pistol worn to social events.
THIS (http://www.fototime.com/EB89C32F7D30AAA/standard.jpg) is a BBQ gun.
This ALMOST (http://www.fototime.com/AD74732DD77F375/standard.jpg) qualifies.

My Colt Government above was used in a local benefit tournament, and by the Grace of God, I barely beat a local sheriff's deputy that could definitely deploy his Glock 21. I won the match by a thread, but I got the trophy to prove it. Beauty, function and reliability CAN go together in a barbeque gun.
that is damn near the coolest thing I have ever seen Pate...

Been wanting a BBQ gun since I was a young 'un. It was worth the wait.

Lawdog's description of a Court and BBQ guns are spot on. It is accepted that a BBQ is by definition fancier than the Court variety, but it should not be gaudily so.
Gold Desert Eagle? BBQ gun fail!

I don't remember the name of the fellow who owns these, but he is a THR member. Maybe he'll stop by and explain why he's so awesome. :)
wow - some fancy pistols there. glad to see the Colt .32acp though.
mine is a lowly BDA .380acp in thumb-snap holster. I'll try to post a foto later, it's the blued model.
Don't see myself ever owning one. I tend to purchase strictly on function and as such, most of mine are not exactly easy on the eye.
I do love looking at others BBQ guns though. I was at a huge gun store down here in Houston this weekend and they have more custom duded up revolvers and pistols than I've ever seen in one place. It's kind of like art. Some people won't be satisfied unless they own a Matisse. I'm just content with prints.
Bac,
What is the stainless .45 w/ cocobolo grips? I've not seen that sort of "scaled" grip texture on the metal parts like that. I have to say that all of those are amazing looking pieces. You must either run a gun shop or a museum. :D

I have no camera but would have to be my engraved .500 S&W or my engraved 660 Nitro Express.

Well, that's a right shame. Still one of my favorite snakes. After some reflection, my blue 6" python with Hogue goncalo alves Monogrips would be the ticket, excepting that I have no suitable leather for it.
I've most of a really nice leather 1911 rig--just nothing "pretty" for it.
I have an obscene number of guns that could qualify as BBQ guns - but then, my friends throw a lot of BBQ's. All of my guns are used regularly. No safe queens.
This is one of a pair of .45 Colts, consecutive SN's. Genuine pearl grips, silver plate, and engraved by J. Harper, factory Colt and Night Hawk engraver, and principal engraver for Nutmeg Arms.
Some folks seem to be off on the definitions: Stock guns with rare exception, no matter the price or quality, usually do not ascend to BBQ Gun status. Though there are exceptions...
