Maybe its because I get such a kick out of these threads and because it's getting close to Halloween again, but I was thinking, about what might have happened to the main characters in the popular horror movies if they had access to more firepower.

I was watching one of the "Halloween" movies. You remember the scene
where Dr. Loomis shoots Michael Myers a bunch of times and Michael falls two stories only to disappear? I kept saying to myself "Shoulda used a shotgun, doc...."

LOL

If main characters were armed? A lotta movies would be a lot shorter.

The Shining: "Heeere's Johnny!". "Heeeeere's Uzi!" End of movie.

Most recently, Signs. A baseball bat? C'mon. Instead of "swing away", Mel should've used the quote from another of his movies. "Aim small, miss small".

Love horror flics. :D

One movie I saw recently was "Disappearance". Bout this family on vacation who come upon this abandoned town in New Mexico and their car wont start. Wont give it away but the father had a big revolver hidden in his SUV just in case. The wife does not like guns but says that right about now "I wouldnt argue against it".

It would have been nice to see the dad pull out a nice scattergun at that point. :D

Uh, honey? I also have this.

As far as Signs goes, what kind of "country boy" farmer does not have a shotgun??

Sheslinger is hillarious. We will be watching some thriller or CSI or something and she will say from time to time, "That wouldn't have happened if you had a 12 gauge now would it."

Scream was my pet peeve movie. Nothing supernatural about your bad guy at all. That movie would have been over in 10 minutes would it have happened in our household.....................although Scream would still have been a very good title for it. :D:evil:

I liked 28 Days Later and Dog Soldiers. Coincidence both involve a lot of shooting? I think not :D

Why is it only the English horror movies have guns? Seems kind of backwards.

Maybe because so many Brits are scared of guns.

I was just telling my wife last night that's why we carry the shotgun on road trips. You know, in case we are in TX and get assaulted by Leatherface.:D

We had just seen the TX Chainsaw Massacre trailer...

There are some good horro movies where they win because they have guns. Critters is one, that space guy goes to hunt the critters. There was another one I saw, the only thing I canr eally remember about it is that there were these spheres that flew around sucking peoples brains out. The main guy had a 8 barreled shoutgun or something. And who can forget Army of Darkness and his sawed off shoutgun "shop smart, shop s-mart"

When my little sister and I were walking out of 28 days later, she turns to me an says "that would never happen in the US" And I ask her why. She says "because every body and their brother owns a gun here, those things would get owned."

Those were some COOL old threads!!!! Lots of laughs and 'what if', pondering.
I was raised by a sci-fi, WWII buff, outdoorsy, zoologist, adventurer traveling kinda guy...so my thoughts on the subject were properly warped before I hit puberty!! (in the old days....I would've wanted a 1928 Thompson and a 50 round drum , Thanks!!)
After watching 'The Howling' I decided I needed to invest in a case of Speer 200 grain flying ashtray's, fill each cavity with a slender stake of wood held in place with silver. Then engrave each JHP with a Cross and Star Of David. Rub the point in some garlic, add a dop of Holy Water, and then get them Blessed by a Priest, and pronounced Kosher by a Rabbi. I figured that case, ten Wilson mags a heavily customized Goverment model and lightly customized Commander could get me through the initial stages of just about any paranormal attack...until I could get to a real armory to resupplly!!!
The thread made me really appreciate the 12 gauge bass trombone even more....wooden stakes, Dragon's Breath, and chopped up silver jewlry? Not to mention 00 Buck and Slugs.....
Now if we can string ALL those TFL/THR movies together in a scenerio format, short segments........it might be marketable...at least to the people in the group....might be worth alot of laughs and maybe used as a tool to demonstrate the usefulness of firearms...cause we NEVER know what life is gonna through at us. If nothing else, it would be fun to make and watch!!
"Heeeeres Johhnnnnnny' 'Boom, Boom,...boom, boom'. Congratulations, Mr Johnny...you receive a complimentary bodybag, with your hollow point purchase!!!

Posted by Mark Tyson: ... Is it possible to build a silver bullet or a bullet containing some amount silver ... For use against werewolves or would they work on vampires too?

Give your character a Topper 88 and you've got a horror movie

Give your character a coach gun and you've got an action movie

Compare "Evil Dead" with "Army of Darkness" for an illustration.

Horror is not having a second shot, and having to fumble around with shells and such. Give the character too much power, and the horror vanishes and turns into action.
