(CNN) -- Three police officers were shot in Pittsburgh on Saturday, as they responded to a domestic call, Allegheny County police said.

A gunman is apparently holed up inside a home in the Stanton Heights neighborhood of the western Pennsylvania city.

The conditions of the officers were not known.

Police couldn't say whether the officers struck were from the city, the county or other departments. City, county and state police officers were at the scene.

CNN affiliate WTAE reported that as many as 80 shots have been fired between people in the house and officers.

I'll be back later. I'm running to the store to buy some tinfoil. ;)

Newsflash - Just because a crime was perpetrated using a firearm doesn't mean it's on-topic here.

Please keep in mind that the mission of THR is to promote responsible, safe, and lawful gun ownership. Every random criminal-with-a-gun-doing-bad-stuff story doesn't belong here.

This draws complaints, yet this doesn't? http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=440629

Why would that thread draw complaints?

A guy asked a legal question about firearm ownership, that's pretty much word for word the stated purpose of the legal forum.

And why would this one? Bear in mind that in the other thread, it requires a bit more than a drunken tinkle in public to bump it up to a class A, along with the restraining order. Maybe it's just me, but that seems like something that would be far more of a black eye, so to speak, than a discussion of the recent spate of mass shootings.

Exactly. I don't see the correlation.

.45 Guy - it's simple. One thread is an individual asking for legal advice regarding their eligibility to own guns. That's perfectly within the scope of the legal forum.

This is a news article about a criminal act committed with a gun. There is no redeeming or teachable content within the article - in fact, the article doesn't even have much info at all. Preliminary reports only so far.

Which makes it off-topic.

3 officers dead, 2 hurt. That is all the local news is saying at this point.

THR isn't a current events forum. It's not our mission to be a clearing house for every news report about a shooting.
