I had one for awhile and really liked it's smooth lines and quick handling charistics

the 7400 is a fairly reliable deer rifle that offers plenty of accuracy for the first couple of cold bore shots and will last a lifetime in the hands of the typical hunter.

A bullet hose that you can hammer away box after box of ammo. This will wear the rife out in short order and you won't hit anything because the 7400 has a tendency to throw shots quite wildly as heat builds up

I have one in 270 and as others have stated the barrel warms up quick (4-6 shots) and group starts to wander and open up. Shoots 1 1/2" at 100 yd with any factory 130 gr load I've used. Shouldn't be an issue in a hunting gun I would think.

I have the 760 Pump Remington and have had similar experiences. I keep it for delivering a heavier round down range. If I need to send more rounds or lesser mass, then I have my AR-15. I am, however still looking for an extended magazine for the Remington. Many folks say that Eagle brand made them, but I've not been able to locate them in 30-06.

I have one in .270 also and I have never had any problems with it. Accurate and have never had a jam with it, my favorite deer rifle.

Keep it clean and use it for what it was made for. Deerhunting.

as mention the heat issue, also you can't fire it rapidly or it will jam with my experience with deer on the run. over a dozen members of my hunting party (family) use the model 7400 and i myself have used it for many years white tail hunting. it jams occasionally and cost me a few deers so i went with a more reliable semi auto rifle. stay away from the aftermarket magazines as they don't feed properly. also i didn't like how the bolt holds back the last shot and requires two hands to release the magazine, one pulling the charging handle back and one pressing the mag release. other than that good gun. go with a BAR.
