East Palo Alto only recently was surpassed by Oakland as having the highest per capita murder rate. Nationally!
Shoot first ask questions later was probrably covered in their academy training.

If the cop loses his job, he could get a job with the TN State Police. They too like to shoot dogs.

Wow. That's really.... wow.
[Oh, and can we do a favor and knock off the TN thing? First, you're impuning an entire police force on the basis of a single incident. Secondly, that wasn't the Tennessee State Police, it was an officer of the Cookeville Police Department who shot the pooch. ]

A stumbling cop blasted two gunshots into East Palo Alto Mayor Patricia Foster’s pet dog and fired a third round into her garage wall at her Garden Street home while Foster was meeting with police Chief Wes Bowling, the Daily News has learned.
“We feel really bad,” Bowling
told the Daily News last night.
That is absolutely priceless. A further example of why only cops should have guns. Only they have the training, experience, and level-headedness to be trusted with these lethal weapons:rolleyes: At least they feel bad about it

Kind of a tough news link to follow. Sounds like the cop was investigating a shots fired call nearby when 2 pit bull like dogs broke out of the mayors yard and ran up to the cop across the other side of the street. There was an eyewitness who said it appeared the cop was startled by the dogs running at him. Hope more infor becomes available. After the shooting the dogs ran back across the street to their home.

Fired twice, hit the dog twice and the dog survived???
I guess even the cops out there aren't trusted with deadly weapons.

Shot placement
And luck.
Not easy to hit a moving dog...
Let alone down it.
