Hi All,
I just got my M19 home and I'm told it's a 4-screw model?? There is a screw
just under the trigger guard, odd. However it shoots 158gr magnum loads
just fine which I think is fine seeing how it's made in 1958, about 7yrs
younger than me.Very odd.
Two questions,will 158gr +P 38's shoot to(in general)the same POI as the
maggies?...and,is anyone else using a revolver THIS old? The gun looks
almost new,very little wear,like me.It is a keeper,I hope like me.
Alright three questions, what is the darn trigger guard screw for?
Thanks Folks,
John

Trigger guard screw allows access to the cylinder stop (bolt) spring.
Makes em a lot easier to work on the cyl stop.

Likely the 158gr Specials will shoot a bit high due to lower velocity, more time for recoil induced muzzle rise.

You'll never know till you try.
And you will have a blast playin with it.

I have a bunch of 19s and they are all very friendly and eager to please.

Sometimes I CCW Smiths a LOT older than that one. :)

Bless you C.R.Sam, you even picked up on the unspoken question-"Is this
thing safe for CCW"?

It might be worth your while to remove the fourth screw and spring from time to time for cleaning: gunk has a way of ending up there. I'd suggest removing, cleaning, and replacing carefully, since the parts probably aren't a dime a dozen any more.

The 19 is a fine example of what S&W use to produce! You should have lots of fun w/ her ;) Congrats
