Today I came across some Federal small pistol match primers. Never used them before, always have used standard small pistol. The price was right so they are out in my shop now. They will be mostly used for loading 9mm. Is there anything I need to be aware of about them. I know I will strart from the bottom and work up the loads again, but is there any surprises I should look for? I did a search and found one thread states the only difference is quality control is better on them. Anything else?

They load just like regular small pistol primers. No worries. The Match primers are made by the more experienced workers, and so are considered to be better, more consistent primers, thus Match primers.

Another thought. The Federal small rifle Match primers are mag primers. (205M) If these are mag pistol primers just start low and work up, stopping a bit short of max data. I can't remember if Fed Match small pistol primers are mag or not.

The Federal small rifle Match primers are mag primers.
Good to know..as CCI small rifle"BRs" are standard primers with the more experienced lines & better Q.C.
I'd have guessed the Federals were standard as well.

If you know of anyone with a DA revolver that has been modified for light pulls, or perhaps some competion oriented shooters, you might try trading them off.
Federals ignite easier then other brands. With the primer hoarding shortage, completion oriented shooters might be interested in trading.
