I haven't travelled the U.S. enough to know where every town fits in what state.

Is it possible for you to suggest that a media article be identified by the state in which the By-Line resides? Too many towns with newspapers, okay?

Thanks,

-Andy

What?

Not everyone knows that "The Daily Schlub" is the paper serving the burgeoning metropolis of Thumbsuck, West Oreatuckya?

I used to work with newspapers from around the United States on a daily basis, and got quite good at knowing even many of the middle-sized papers, but some of the articles posted here just baffle me. And it drives me nuts until I can figure out where the paper's published...

Nuts?

Me too.

Hope some manager puts the word out.

Anybody have an idea how to get folks to put the bloody state and town in posts with pasted or linked articles ?

Personally, I don't think a float with that request would do it. Too few read the floats as it is.

Open for ideas.

I admit I probably have failed to include location. I try tho'

Lets try this, next person that reads this thread, post something, if nothing more than BTT. Perhaps if this thread keeps getting BTT people will think important enough to read and take heed.
Dunno, Worth a shot.:)

"Torture how take away their favorite ammo and make them shoot something arcane like 303 British or 38 S&W????"

Go ahead, throw your worst at me! HAHAHAAHH! I LOVE the .303 and .38 S&W!

In fact, the odder the better! I love them all!

"Make them shoot weak handed..."

Snort. I don't HAVE a weak hand. I shoot from either hand equally well.

Try again. :p

Well, I started this, and it appears to have merit, so maybe I should open a thread (where, please?) depicting the difficulties I have understanding where some of the events are happening. I can PM my text to C.R.Sam (a Mod), if desired, for force of content. You folks can then jump in and amplify the benefits.

One thing - I don't write very catchy Subject lines - we do want a goodly number of reads, right?

Ideas?

I'd say that the majority of newspaper citations happen in the Legal/Political forum, so that might be the best place to put it.

As I said here (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44198&highlight=forum)...

It seems to me that a "News and Views" category under "Social Situations" would complement the existing categories.

Sharing and commenting on news and editorial writing has become a major activity here.

It would also reduce duplicate posting by providing a focused place for articles. It could be strongly recommended that only a "reprint" of a published news or opinion article be used as a thread-starter.

How about it, moderators?

It died an (un??)natural death.

Sorry about that... but thanks to you who voiced support.

(I probably attacked it wrong... but was trying to get exposure.)
