Any user comments on either the Novak tritium bar/dot sights or the Heinie straight 8 sights? I'm about to replace some aged Triji 3-dot sights and am thinking about one of the above.

Comments on brightness and how the sight picture works in real life would be very welcome -- thanks in advance.

Youre going for the vertical style sights, eh?. IMO, having had bar/dot rears, 3 dot sets, bar/dot sets and Heinie 8's.

Good bright tritium that your used to is the real key. Make em bright enough to see and practice...youll be impressed with them all.

My favorite night config. is the bar/dot rear with the dot front. 3 rear points of reference just gives you more of a baseline to work from.

My favorite sight configuration is Novak's Low Mount setup. For what its worth...thats my choice.

Don't know how 'it would work in real life' as I've never shot anyone before and don't plan to ;) but I like Novaks but Heinies are also excellent. THe brightness should be the same as your Trijicons as IIRC they use Trijicon vials.

Mostly personal preference, I'm used to the Novaks but wouldn't mind having Heinies.

I have a Novak Bar-dot on a 1911. I like it a lot. It is very easy to get oriented quicky. There is no confusion at all over which is the front and which is the rear sight. Just center the o over the _ and squeeze.

I have both and prefer the heinie if it is in heinie sight cuts as it gives you a bigger site picture. If it is going in Novak sight cuts, which heinie makes sites for I could go either way.
