Hi all,

I have a Glock 17 which I like very much, never had any problem after firing more than 1K rounds, except for one thing:
it will not ignite the IMI tracer rounds propably due to the hard primer. It needs to strike 2 or 3 times the primer before the round goes off. I have not tested other military ammo brand.
A friend of mine shot the same IMI tracer rounds without any problem with his CZ 75.
I have changed the firing pin along with its spring without success.
Anyone has an idea, or could it be that all Glock 17 have the same problem?

I've heard this complaint many times. It seems to be a common problem with striker fired pistols. It is not neccesarily a problem with the particular design, as it happens to some pistols, but not all. HTH.

1. The Glock striker system doesn't have the same firing pin energy as a typical hammer/firing pin arrangement.

2. The ammo you're shooting is probably carbine ammo. The hard primers are to prevent slam fires.

I have both a CZ75 and Glock 17 - I could test this for you to confirm its not just your gun, if you wanted.

1) Where do you get this ammo?
2) Is it corrosive?
3) How far out to the tracers actually become visible?

thinking to myself... question 4: where would I shoot this stuff, anyhow?
