Can someone recommend a good gun safe for the night stand?
I'm looking for something that will fit a Springfield XD-45 Tactical (5" barrel)
and an extra mag. I'd like to keep it around $70-$80 if possible and I want
one that has the finger pads to open it, not a key.
Also, if someone could help me get an idea of what I should be looking for and what features I do and don't need that would be helpful as well.
Thanks,
BillyBA

if you have a local ''Target" reatail store near you - they have exactly what youre looking for - big enough for your gun , small enough to fit in a bedside dwaer with key pad locking (actual key for back up aswell) for about $50 - $60 ?

I've seen some candidates at Gander Mountain, forget the price and manufacturer.

I searched for a long time and decided on a safe called Gunvault.
I can tell you it works very nicely for me, I do have young kids in the house.
Four finger buttons on the top, hit the right combination and, BINGO, it pops the front door open. Takes all of 3 seconds...
I have the medium size, big enough for two guns.
Has a silent operation feature and a light inside.
There are also two keys, in case the combo. is forgotten.
Bought mine new on eBay, for a lot less than you will find in a store

Gunvault. You can program it for three finger/digit entry, feel it in the dark, tap-tap-tap, it springs open, and you have your gun. Very ergonomic.

Got one in my office and like it. Programmable key-pad and keyed for backup.

It's gonna have to be pretty big to fit a nightstand in.
Sorry.

I use a Honeywell lockbox from Walmart. It is only $24 and is in the safes section at your local Walleyworld. It has a touchpad with a key backup. I keep a pair of XD's in mine with no problem. It is too good of a deal to pass up.

I keep three pistols and .44 Mag revolver in the Gunvault next to my bed.

I have had this for two years and the original batteries are still going strong. It is a sturdy alternative the gunvaults.
