SARAH BRADY, GUN/ALCOHOL EXPERTS DECRY ANHEUSER-BUSCH SUPPORT FOR CARRYING
CONCEALEDWEAPONS IN MISSOURI

Washington, D.C. Sarah Brady, Chair of Handgun Control today condemned
Anheuser-Busch Inc. for its recent support of Proposition B, a Missouri
state-wide referendum which if passed would give the state one of the weakest
concealed-carry laws in the nation. The April 6 referendum marks the first time
in the United States that the controversial issue of carrying concealed weapons
has been put to a state-wide vote; a pro-gun Missouri group is calling the vote
'the last great gun battle of the 20th century' and the gun lobby is pouring
money and political clout into the campaign....

All the more reason why everyone should write a letter of "Thanks and Gratitude" to Anheuser-Busch for their support of the second amendment.

Don't let them be intimidated by the anti-gunners....send them your thanks.

Although the relationship between alcohol and violence is complex, study after study has shown that in most violent events, both victims and offenders were drinking alcohol before the violent incident took place. Never before have I seen them admit this. Drunks get violent? They invalidate with this statement all of their earlier diatribes about guns being the cause of all violence. I learned something else. They begin the page with Sarah Brady, Chair of Handgun Control today condemned Anheuser-Busch, Inc. {etc.} I haven't seen them use the words "Handgun Control" as the name of their group since the musical-names routine began. The page link is to "bradycampaign.org" and the page header logo reads "www.handguncontrol.org." The HC web site refers to "The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence" and the Milling Morons Masquerade (did I spell that correctly?). Their name seems to be as flaky as their "facts."

"Unlike the gun lobby, Handgun Control does not call for a boycott of a corporation’s products because they take a position different from ours," Mrs. Brady said. No, you sue them, preferably with the use of public funds by getting city governments involved. "Our many friends in Missouri, including the majority of law enforcement and health organizations, who oppose Proposition B do so because they know that Missouri does not need thousands of hidden handguns carried by the wrong people in the wrong places." Your cure is worse than that ailment. Your "wrong people" are all of those outside LE and the military, and the "wrong places" seem to be, oh, pretty much everywhere. "Guns and alcohol don’t mix." You're quoting us correctly, for five whole words. We are reminded that "the Devil can quote Scripture for his own ends."

Prop B was four years ago. But, AB's feelings haven't changed - they recently told Governor Holden that he'll not be getting any campaign money from the biggest contributor in the state.

Michelob Amber Bock has a place in my fridge precisely because AB is pro-guns and pro-CCW.

Their current web page links to that one. A little FUD, perhaps? No rules in a knife fight, I suppose.

I think I'll have to hit the grocery store and try that Michelob Amber Bock.

If you're not into beer, they also make the Doc's Hard Lemon and Tequiza malt beverages. Doc's is pretty good stuff, I haven't tried the Tequiza.

I snet them a letter about a week or so ago, just after I read that they dropped their support for Gov. Holden, and got a nice reply back from them. Good people, good beer.

Same old sore losers. Same old snivelling and whining and finger pointing. Same old ugly Puritanism at heart.

PeteyPete:

Thanks for the link. I sent them this:

To whom it may concern:

I am writing to thank you deeply for showing your strong support of the Second Amendment by dropping your support for Missouri Governor Holden, who opposes the right of law-abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms for self-defense.

I have enjoyed your beers for a long time and will continue to buy your products as a “thank you” for supporting the rights of American Citizens.

Thank you very much,
Me

Even though Bud is not my favorite beer, I just had one with a monstrous cold cut sub from Publix. Bud does go pretty well with spicy food, and its great to be drinking a beer that I knew I couldn't afford back in college.
