I must be nuts!

I wonder if any of you guys do this same thing with your firearms
I recently purchased two older milsurp carbines. One a 1941 and the other a 1948. Both Russian Mosin-Nagant. I took them both completely apart and cleaned them extensively. (including removing the cosmoline from stock and metal). I oiled and greased as needed. I then put them back together.
Now, a whopping seven days later I am getting ready to tear them all down again and tinker with them both some more. They haven't even been fired since I bought them!!! Am I nuts or what?? :p

Have you ever considered machine shop? Now THAT is tinkering!

I do the same thing, it helps you get to know your guns better or more
familiarized with it, sometimes i like to dis-assemble my gun for inspection
and cleaning and re-lubing.

Am I nuts or what??
Nope. Why spend money on ammunition until the gun's ready to put it to good use?

Not only are you NUTS, but you're a PERVERT as well...:what:
You're looking for ANY excuse to fondle your new guns....
Just like I do... ;)

You are nuts however if you don't have a good set of gunsmithing screwdrivers to do it with!
I've gone without them for years and lived with the strain of seeing ugly screw heads. Well..now all my screws still look...well, unscrewed! :D
And yes, I do the same thing with my new guns. I just like holding them and wondering where it went and how it got to get certain scars. Kinda like having an old war veteran around.

Definitely! Definitely!! Nuts & in good company! Most of my guns, not just the milsurps, have been "clear down", some more than others. Those are my favorites!
Have fun. It's amazing what a little judicial polishing will do!!

Definitely a "we're nuts" club. I know at some point (soon) I'm getting a Mosin Nagant, so today I bought some ammo, cleaning rod, and head space gauge for my upcoming purchase.
Now if I try to learn Russian before I buy it, then I'm nuts, eh "comrade".:D

Heck no! I took my SKS apart about a hundred times before I shot it just getting familiar with it. Same with my Mosin and my Enfield.
