Just blasted my chrony today

Dang - only second time out with my chrony. was shooting some full house 460 Mag handloads and clipped the upper corner. It collapsed like a steel silhoute (sp?). Walked over thinking I hit one of the sky screen support rods. Nope.
I've shot 38/357/10mm/45 ACP/45 Colt without incident. But this 460 must have got away from me on that shot.
I've found the chrony info quite enlightening so I guess I'll need to pick up another. At least I didn't blow up a gun (or myself) today.
Safe reloading and shooting all!

Contact the mfr and see about a replacement. Most likely cheaper than buying a whole new one without a trade in.
If mine acts up again I'm gonna shoot it and send it in to be replaced.

FYI: Its always a good idea to shoot a round or two at a paper target set as close as your chrono to check where the bullet is hitting in relation to your sights. Being low at close range isn't unusual. Of course you've probably figured that one out now.
This tip is really for those that haven't shot their chrono yet.

My buddy's chrono was reading error on my shots, so another buddy that was helping me said "you're shooting too high, lower your point, (shoot, error) lower more, (shoot, error) by then the owner of the chrono comes over and says we should move it in closer, I walk out and find this nice gouge running along the top edge, I was ready to buy a new one but found that it still worked, my buddy calls it a battle wound.
what I do now is put a piece of 2" masking tape on the forward screen at the bottom, if I get closer than two inches to the chrono I can see the hole in the tape and stop.

A couple things to remember when doing chrono readings is that some type of shade over the chronograph in bright sun will get you more error free readings.
And remember that your bore axis at close range usually sits at least 1 1/2" inches lower than the scope and you need to compensate for that to avoid hitting the unit.
A little care in setup will prevent that shot from costing you $80-100 and feeling like an a$$.
