Here is the contact info:

Here is the bill:
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=81R&Bill=HB1893

It's of of it's initial committee & moving to a different one; the House Calendars Committee. They will essentially decide if and when the legislation will come up on the floor.

Contact all the Public Safety Committee members who supported this and thank them.

Contact all the House Calendars Committee members and tell them to put this bill to a vote.

This might take a while & seem tedious but we need to do it.
We can get this bill passed we just need to put in some work.

I am still bitter that more people didn't step up on Open Carry, but carrying on campus gets support. I will support it, don't get me wrong, but I am never ON campus. Haven't been for awhile. Open Carry made more sense for most of us...

I think open carry is a bad idea. It makes you a target.

Open Carry isn't just for the purpose of self defense.

I have, at more than one point in my life, lived within walking distance (less than 2 miles) of an indoor shooting range in Texas.

It would have been nice being able to carry multiple firearms on my person, right to the range.

This isn't up for debate here in Activism. Either join in the effort to support it, or go open a thread in GGD about why you don't like it.

It will need even more support now.

The Austin News has been running a sound bite from some retired cop who opposes the bill and is blathering all over the place about how its a bad idea because it "complicates things for law enforcement".

^ Which precisely points out the critical nature of this. The other side coordinates their efforts against it because they know it would be a DEVASTATING loss for them, which is why we need to see that it happens.

They get away with convincing everyone that every single joe blow in classes would carry a gun.

I've already contacted my representatives and then some.

The bad guy has completed his crime and has departed the crime scene by the time the cops arrive. How does it complicate anything.
