How many people have pocket holsters for their pocket guns? Whats the pros and cons for not having a holster in your pocket?

A good pocket holster will protect the trigger from being accidentally pulled. It keeps the gun positioned including the butt of the gun in the 'up' position, keeps the gun form 'printing' in your pocket and generally keeps lint, dirt and other crap from entering and eventually binding the action.
For my .32 Seecamp I have a Galco for my front pocket, a Strong 'wallet style' for rear pocket carry (holster stays put when gun is drawn) and a Desantis synthetic holster with a rubber like exterior for my S&W Airweight 442. The 'sticky' exterior will keep the holster/gun oriented in my pocket even when wearing loose pants or cargo style shorts. I once carried w/o holsters, and found that the positives far out weigh the negs. Hope that helps.
Edit: just one thing to add this to this thread.
If you carry a gun in a 'wallet' holster be aware that it if the gun can shoot while still in it's holster, it is considered a 'Destructive Device' by BATF and is governed under the NFA.

I use a DiSantis Super Fly.
Pro - Silicone texture grips pretty well to the inside of the pocket. But you still need to practice your draw because the gun is snug inside of it. I learned to swipe the pistol outwards away from my body and this gives enough resistance against the pocket that the gun slides right out. Relatively thin. Prints like a big wallet.
Con - The anti-print flap curves inwards against the gun so you have to be a little deliberate at sliding your hand in between the flap and the gun.
Oops I didn't read your original post carefully. Please don't carry a pistol without a holster in your pocket. Things can get caught inside the trigger guard and the gun may not be in proper position and you may grab the trigger or something. Plus it's not as comfortable because the gun may not want to stand vertically in the pocket and may want to lay perpendicular which may poke into your thigh or at the very least, bulge out and be awkward to look at.

I have three main carry guns, a Bersa Thunder .380, a Walther p22 and a Kel-Tec P32. I carry the first two in a pocket holster. The P32 I carry loose in the pocket in condition three.

In addition to protection from dirt & sweat, keeping it positioned upright where you can get to it, and safety.
A holster will not wear out your pocket linings near as fast as a bare gun muzzle, sights, and other sharp edges.

How can one accurately explain government lunacy? That seems a lot like a dog chasing it's tail.

Actually, a handgun contained in a wallet holster that conceals the handgun's profile and allows the handgun to be fired while still in the wallet holster is classified as "Any Other Weapon"(AOW), not a "Destructive Device", and must be registered, as such, with the BATFE.

To fine tune this a little bit: it would be an "Any Other Weapon," and this only applies if the holster disguises the gun. There is at least one holster that allows you to shoot with the holster still attached - called a "Holdster" - but it is obvious that there is a gun attached to it.

What is a good pocket holster for a small revolver. Mainly a Taurus 85s? My local gun shop had it in stock and I was able to put it in my pocket (no holster) with no problem and it couldn't be seen. I don't really trust my gun shop for anything thing like holsters because they work on commission and try to sell me $100 holster.....

For my S&W 442, I have a Desantis Nemesis and the Blackhawk size 3 that is in my pocket right now, and that I find to be my preference 95% of the time.

This sums it up very well. Without a pocket holster, you'd be surprised at how readily and quickly the muzzle of a S&W J Frame likes to trade places with it's butt, pointing itself approximately at your head :uhoh: .
Testing with an empty 642, I found this would happen after only 20-30 paces.

I just picked up an LCP and upon putting it in my pocket noticed how much it looks like a gun and how easily gravity and movement shifts it to a position that might make drawing it more difficult.

I primarily use a Desantis Nemesis.

Anybody carry a Glock 26 in a pocket holster?

A DeSantis Nemesis keeps a J-frame forward in my front pocket so the grip doesn't hang out. It makes the gun very easy to draw, since it's in a predictable position with the grip easily accessible, and it shrouds the trigger.
It also doesn't "print". You can tell my pocket isn't empty, but you don't see the outline of a gun.
If you're getting printing from a Super Fly, you're wearing pants that are too tight for concealed carry.:)

It really depends on the gun you want to carry. My main carry piece is a Walther PPK/S, and it's far too heavy to pocket-carry in the Micah custom holster I bought for that purpose, IMO. I do carry a Beretta Jetfire from time to time as a BUG in my back pocket with an el-cheapo thing from Midway, and it works OK and is better than nothing. But for me, pocket carry with a PPK/S is out of the question.

I figure that's self-evident. A gun has to be appropriate for pocket carry, whether or not you use a pocket hoster.
Given an appropriate gun, I find the pocket holster to be a lot more useful than I'd imagined. I can also keep a pocket knife, change, etc. in the same pocket, without getting it all mixed up with the gun -- and it's easy to reach into the pocket for change, around the holster, without pulling the gun out and scaring the girl at the yogurt shop.:D

Really? Compared to the Nemesis, the SuperFly doesn't print all imho. But if you're having printing issues with even the SuperFly, you probably need to look into a stiffer leather pocket holster.

I prefer a Kramer for J frame front pocket carry. I also have a Galco pocket J frame holster that is ok.

In my case with the Superfly I think it's more the fabric and weight of my pants than the holster. Or the fact that my wife can spot a concealed weapon ten miles away and she's always the one to tell me I'm printing...

I use a Nemesis for my G27, but it kinda rattles around in my pants pocket. I've resorted to putting a pocket within my pocket to hold the Nemesis in place.
I like this combination. The gun stays in place, always presents the same, and doesn't print as much. Also, I can keep my keys and knife in the regular pocket without having them interfere with the G27.

When I know I'm going to have to visit "no firearms" areas (Post Office, restaurant with liquor license, posted locations, etc.) I carry a S&W Model 36 in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. Before I leave for my CPZ destination, I put holster and all in the glove compartment. When I arrive, I lock the glove compartment. That way, nobody sees me leave a gun unattended. When I return to my vehicle, I take the gun and holster out of the glove compartment and put them back in my pocket. Ohio's an open carry state, so it doesn't matter who sees me handling the gun. I don't care if they know I HAVE a gun, just so long as they don't know there's a gun there without me.

They work great...they're cheap...and they're made by hand here in the good ol' USA by a really nice guy.
I never leave home without it.

Another vote for Mika here for all of the reasons stated. They also work as an temporary appendix carry holster for my J-frame as well as for a boot holster w/cowboy type boots.

DeSantis Nemesis for Kahr PM9 and same for a Seecamp LWS .380.
J Frames ride in a Mika Roundcut. A J Frame ie. 442/642/340 etc will fit just fine in the same DeSantis designed for the PM9.

I would never, ever, carry in pocket without a holster. Criteria: its gotta stay put, and its gotta cover the trigger guard. Ironically I found a $6 Ace case pocket holster that does both those things just fine, though may some feel its a bit thick.

The only time I DO NOT use a pocket holster is then I slip my smoking gun into the pocket of my swim trunks to go outside to burn one.
However, that gun is a PPK/S with a 22lb trigger pull. I'm not to worried about an ND!!

Three important advantages of the Mika pocket holster (and some others) are:
They don't print...they don't come out with the draw...and they stay open for an easy re-holster.
