Making a paper shot container may help a bit, but don't count on it. It's going to open up very quick coming from a rifled barrel.

Need a smoothbore. Trying to shoot shot out of a rifled barrel is a effort in futility unless your trying to shoot some thing extrememly close. That rifles barrel is meant for a ball r sabot, not shot ;)

Maybe the shot can be wrapped up really tight and shot out like a bean bag.
Might get lucky enough to fracture the turkey's head or neck. Fat chance of that happening but what else would work with shot out of a rifled .50?

Whatever you shoot out of a rifled barrel is going to spin -and rapidly disperse if using shot. If you put it in a casing strong enough not to break up under the rotational force, you are in effect shooting a solid.

If you are going to hunt turkeys with your .50, use a round ball and aim for the head. good luck

I think the rifling twist rate makes a HUGE difference.
My first BP expereince, which some of you have read a time or two, was incountering to young lads (I was ten myself) hunting with great great great's 1853 Enfield from the ACW. They poured powder from a can into a largish spoon and into the barrel , a wad of newspaper, same spoon of shot and another newspaper wad
They had a few tree rats they had shot with it. I let them shoot my WInchester M37 .410 for a chance to shoot the Enfield.
Not sure if the originals had a 1-72 or a 1-66 twist but it was slow and shallow.
I have yet to try it with a repro Enfield. Hmmm I wonder if a 28 gauge power piston type plastic "wad" might improve a .577 or .58?
Maybe a .50 sabot with a paper extension for a .50? Not encouraging you to try but just asking others to comment.
