I was pretty disappointed with it. Granted, I didn't go for the shooting itself, but for the vendors, but overall, nothing I saw was worth the trip down. It was like a normal gunshow, with worse conditions. I went specifically looking for some threaded barrels for my HK USP and my G17 and no one had any - even the suppressor sellers. I guess I went with too high of expectations.

Gonna make it to Knob Creek one of these years. Bit of a drive for me, though.

Gotta remember what the show is about - MACHINE GUNS! :D

The deals are ammo, camo and whatever someone might be carrying around. It's not a gun show aimed at selling what every other gun show in the US does.

I give it a pass for that, and always manage to come home with goodies. Mags, parts, cases of .223 & 9mm always make a show worth it, especially when a water cooled .50 cal colt is dancing in the distance while you shop!

The "Little Fat Guy" is a hardcore shooter. He wears a "Little Fat Guy" hat, his wife has a hat that says "Little Fat Guy's Wife," his kids have hats that... well, you get the drift.

There were TONS of spiders all over the place. It must have had some sorta spider party before we got there.

Wish I'd run into y'all, but except for coming up at 11:00, I pretty much haunted the campground. Turns out I've got a bone spur in my ankle, so I'm into pain meds and medicinal Shiner...

It WAS a spider convention! And no, I wasn't seeing things after Fri night Black & Tans! ;) Had a great time hanging out at KC, wish I would've seen the 'Slingers & some other folks who went. All I came back with was a Surefire G2 that I have been wanting. Reloading componants were a little slim but there were plenty of fresh cosmo rifles to be had. Bogie, tell them about your new "babies!"

And y'all need to camp... We provided Intune with a little dome tent and a sleeping bag. Lots of folks were wondering where the rest of the Nashvillians were...

Rifle #1 was a Yugoslavian M48A Mauser. Bore looks nice, the rest of the rifle looks nice, should be a great shooter. It was bought by the Wendinator. $80.

Rifle #2 was Bogie's "Keep up with the Wendys" rifle - Another M48A. Nice rifle. Has enough cosmoline in/on it to preserve a tank. S L O W lock time... So, flushed the heck out of the bolt with charcoal lighter fluid, and it isn't bad (but now sprays charcoal lighter fluid) - we're finishing the job this week...). $80.

Rifle #3 was Kay's after noticing that Wendy and Chuck had rifles... Her's cost $90, and has a fancy front sight.

Rifle #4 and #5 were simultaneous, and was Wendy again (whew!). A Yugoslavian SKS and an M44 7.62x54 carbine... Not sure about the prices. The SKS looks to be newish, and has nice wood. Both have bayonets and kits of stuff.

Purchase #6 was getting my Norinco M1911A1 cleaned up and parkerized. $55, and I _eventually_ got it reassembled. Also bought the obligatory t-shirts, etc...

Also picked up some ammo: 500 Wolf for the SKS, 100 rounds of some noncorrosive boxer primed stuff for the Mausers, and I couldn't find any 7.62x54 noncorrosive boxer stuff.

Oops... Forgot a rifle...

Arne picked up a VERY nice 20th anniversary or bicentennial or something Mini-14 for around $300... Looked to be "new in box." He and the kids used Mini-14s and an M1 carbine in the rifle matches.

Goals for the spring shoot are:

New tarp for canopy tent, for better awnings. Arne is also probably going to get a canopy tent.

Small utility trailer, to enable bulk purchase of ammo/components. .308 and .223 bullets were VERY available.

Functional warm shower. Doesn't have to be hot - warm would be good enough.

Personal camping portajohn and tent for the campsite - It was significantly warmer overall than normal, and lemme tell ya, after one spends an evening sittin' around a campfire sippin' on Knob Creek Bourbon with Shiner Bock chasers, those public portajohns are a wee bit oppressive for the ol' noggin...

For the spring shoot, I wanna work up menus, and each person/couple/group be responsible for a meal. We had a plethora of coleman stoves available (nine burners total, unless I missed one...), but we coulda been a bit better on the variety of chow - I brought breakfast and some brats, but guess what? Other folks brought brats too... I'm now sick of brats...

I would love to go in April, especially if we do it as a group. Of course, it all depends on my work and school schedules, and the budget.

As far as the menu, I'd be willing to help with the cooking. I am a culinary arts major afterall. :D And no, I won't prepare anything like MRE under glass.

the prices I paid on the SKS was $190 and the Russian Carbine was $120 :D

I do not how to post pics on here, but will give Bogie the disc and have him post them tomorrow.

It was great meeting new folks and getting to experience Knob Creek while camping.

Arne modifies these magazines to work interchangably with several different rifles/Class III guns... He makes a spacer so that they'll handle .308, and then machines towers so that they'll feed properly. VERY sweet, and if you're tired of changing mags after only 20 rounds on your FAL or M14, this is what you need...

Picture #1: I remember that guy! I always made sure to look closely to make sure his kid had ear protection.

You would not believe the number of times I've had to remind parents that their kids need ear protection (I'm one of the guys with the funny orange shirts and hats!). I had one lady last April say she couldn't get her kid to keep his ear protection on. I told her that she needed to leave if she couldn't control her kid. I don't think she appreciated the comment, oh well.

I believe the April, '04 dates are for the first week of April, that is, April 3, 4, and 5th. That what was on the flyer at the Super 8 in Radcliffe when I checked out Sunday AM and reserved a room for the next Shoot.

Can someone tell me more about the matches you can shoot at the Creek? I know they have a subgun match, but do you have to bring your own subgun, or can you rent one for a match?

Also, what kind of rifle matches do they have? How do you register for the matches? Do you pre-reg or register on site?

Thanks

Rob

Trebor, check out http://www.machinegunshoot.com for more details. There are links to match info there.

I didn't shoot any of the matches so I can't tell you how they are run, but those links should put you in touch with the various clubs that sponsored.
