I am looking in the twenty eighth edition of Blue Book of Gun Values and trying to find a Colt Army Special 38 revolver with round cylinder and round 4 1/2" barrel, 6 shot, marked with a "C" on both sides by the screws. Has a number 3 on the back of the trigger guard and an overlay VP inside of a triangle on front of the trigger guard. By overlay VP I mean a letter V with a P overlayed down the right side so only the loop of the P shows on the top right side of the V. Serial #3199XX

Would anyone know what I am looking at, I appariently don't know enough about this one to know what I have or what it is worth.

Thanks Ron
PS Thank you very much to those who answered my question your help is greatly appreciated and I will deffinately know where to go with any other gun related questions.

Made in 1910. In good shooting condition, maybe $275.00. It varies and is strictly controlled by the condition of the revolver.

I believe the vp is an inspectors mark, the other lertters assembly marks or line inspection marks. The serial number shows an Army Special Model made in 1910. Look under Army Special, don't worry ( in this case ) about all those little marks. Could be wrong, been wrong before and I betcha I will be wrong again.:)

Got to love the Army Special. Mine was made in 1926 and is in really nice shape. Near-mint -- Just a little bit of wear to finish on the cylinder edge. Hardly fired, if at all. I shot it for the first time a few days ago. SWEET! Bullseye shooter.

That's an early gun, as they were introduced in 1908. Use some care in what you feed it.
