Does anyone know of any good Internet resources where someone who is interested in learning about this sport can go? I am looking for sites or links to threads from THR, TFL or internet that give the basics of trap, skeet, and choosing a shotgun.

Also if anyone has any advice with regards to getting started and choosing a shotgun that would be appreciated.

I would like an all around shotgun, if that’s possible. One that will serve for trap, skeet, and home defense. I don’t plan on doing any hunting, but you never know that could change if this is as addicting as it sounds

My Personal recommendation, is to get pump action shotgun (ie. Rem 870), inexpensive so you spend your money on ammo and rounds of trap/skeet and Sporting Clays.

The best internet source I know of for real info is rat cheer. And that's no ego trip, I'm one of many folks who knows something and contribute what they can.

As bamf suggests, search here and on The Firing Line, our ancestral BB. Don't see it,feel free to ask.

For most folks, one of the Big Four pumps in the combo package makes lots of sense. These cost less than a week's pay for a working person, last long, are easy to care for, and are as versatile as a SAK.

One long barrel for hunting and targets, a short, rifle sighted or bead barrel for HD, CD, and slug use.

And yes, you can spend lots of money and get a better shotgun for one thing, from a VANGed competition "Practical/Tactical" auto to a fine O/U for trap, skeet and SC. But, that can be for later. Right now, you need a reliable, inexpensive shotgun that can be used for training, practice and all around fun.

One can obtain a Big Four pump, get the fit and form right, and learn while having fun.

And once fit is OK and form's acceptable,darn near everything done with shotguns is fun.

My choice is the nigh legendary 870. But, the others of the Big Four are good also. See the floating thread for an overview.

And start off with the lightest loads you can find. Trust me on this...
