CZ 75D Problem!

I took one of my buddies to the range yesterday with his new CZ 75D. He fired about ten rounds and then the thing started locking back on every round. It was not a problem with the slide release either. It was as if the slide was just really tight in the rear position. You could just push it forward a little and then it would return into battery. I first thought it was really dry so we stripped it and oiled it up. It still did it. At the point where you can engage the slide lock it freezes. When you release the slide lock it doesnt do anything unles you give it a little pressure forward. The spring is really tight so it is not that also. Any ideas?

Well I have some ideas..but what does "the spring is really tight, so it isnt that"...mean? Your recoil spring still has lots of "spring" left in it?
Now more info needed?
Is the recoil spring OEM? Yes Im assuming
How many rounds are thru the gun? Just the ten + you mention?
How clean was the gun?
What ammo were you shooting?
Have you field stripped it and checked out everything very carefully.
Heres my take on things....Ill bet its a black poly coat gun. If so, the poly gets in the rails a tad on some guns and needs to be "shot out" or just shot until it shoots normally.
Field strip the gun and look at the frame/slide rails where it is binding up.
Whats there? You should be able to see if thats the problem.
On certain 75's the rails are tight anyway..as in NO MOVEMENT except as they should have.
Let us know. Tell you buddy to chill...it really doesnt sound like a huge deal...right now anyway.
Shoot well.

OEM spring meaning that he didnt stick some weak spring into it. I checked it out pretty thouroughly and couldnt see anything on the rails that might be causing it. My original thought was to keep shooting it to loosen it up. We ended up shooting about 200 rounds of factory whitebox 9 through it and it did it on every single round. I would say IT IS a big deal when a brand new gun locks back on every single round. Not exactly what I call quality control. You shouldnt need to waste box after box of ammo to break a gun in to where it works.

Sounds like a problem with the slide stop. You can try calling Mike the gunsmith at CZ to see if you can get a new slide stop. I have a few thousand perfect rounds through my BD. I don't think I have heard of anyone else with this problem.

Hi Jeeper,
Try: one - remove magazine, if nothing happen, (make sure there is no cartage in chamber), two - push barrel backwards (there is no cartage in the chamber, but instead your palm use light piece of wood). Keep us informed. Chez.

I didnt mean to come across as Its no big deal..dont worry about it. K?
I meant if the rails have the poly black in it...getting it to run isnt a big deal.
Now if the rails on the frame and slide are clear then you have a strange problem.
Just to let you know...CZ's OEM springs can be anywhere from great to SUCK THE BIG ONE! But I highly doubt even the weakest recoil spring would cause this....
CHECK A COUPLE OF MORE THINGS...field strip the gun. On the barrel are two locking lugs in front of the chamber on the top. On the front/top corner is there a "burr" developing? Even a little one...you can tell by feeling it, looking or putting something very flat along the top of the barrel and see if it lays flat on all of the locking lugs and barrel shroud.
If there are slight burrs....CZ didnt bevel that front/top corner of the locking lugs and possibly the barrel shroud on the same front/top corner.
As the gun fires and goes in and out of the slide lug cut outs it will hit the corner Im talking about.
If so...dont panic. I had this happen to one of my guns...you can take it to a "mechanically inclined friend" and have them slowly file them down and then chamfer the corner a tiny bit. I did this and my gun ran forever.
Im not making excuses for CZ...they screwup once in a while, like any other company does. It happens. As far as breaking in guns...some guns take up to 4-500 rnds to get them to run flawlessly...the tighter the gun the longer it takes sometimes..........thats just guns. But this isnt the case with this one.
Let me know if this is the case and Ill email you a drawing of how to fix it...its simple and will take less than 20 minutes.
Shoot well

Thanks for all the replies guys. I should have been more thorough before. I tried and found the problem existed even when it was only the slide and the gun without barrels etc. It is a buddies gun and I think he is going to call CZ today and figure it out. Thanks.
