I dont know much about pistol grips so if someone could tell me what would be some of the benefits of a pistol grip on a shotgun I would appreciate it :o. Also what would be the disadvantages?

Are you talking about pistol grips with no butt-stock?
Or pistol grip stocks.

Big difference.

*Pistol grip stocks are gaining favor with turkey hunters because they help control the gun while calling with one hand.
*They also help control recoil.
*The AR tacky-cool crowd seems to like them because the stock length can be adjusted, and they feel sorta like an AR-15.

Pistol grips with no stocks are a bad idea on several levels.

*Just a bad idea.

*Shotguns have to be aimed to hit anything with them.
*You aim them from the shoulder.

*Shotguns kick like a mule.
*You tame it with a stock.

Not a fan on a shotgun. I tried a pachmayer decelerator on my 1300, and it does not provide the control I need for heavy loads. I found a nice used Speedfeed stock & replaced it.

Not unless you are the point man on a door busting SWAT entry team with lots of training.

Only use it to breach the lock and then go to your primary weapon.

Don't like them for anything.
