Within those distance parameters I would go with a red dot of some sort. Which one depends on your cost limits. A Burris fast fire would be a good option for such a small rifle and they are reasonably priced at $225-$250.

Agree on a red dot. If money isn't an object, then an Aimpoint Micro would be the ticket. A Trijicon Reflex II is another good option, IMO, and doesn't require batteries.

I saw a setup on a tactical match setup rifle that used one of the short 1.5 to 4 power scopes up on top with one of the smaller red dot options mounted over to 45 degrees angle from the scope. What the guy did was shoot normally for long range scoped shots and for the up close and personal stuff he tilted the frame about 20 to 30 degrees to the side to let himself see the red dot. For the really "in your face" stuff he didn't even shoulder it but rather just hand held it and sighted through the red dot for out to maybe 10 to 15 yards.

Seemed like a practical and no nonsense setup to me.

The only problem I have with the dot sight is when trying to pick out a target. It would be fine at the range for hitting clay pigeons at 50yds but not for seeing a groundhog at the same distance, sitting right in the edge of a briar patch.

If you can see the groundhog without the red dot, you can see it with the red dot. However, I understand your concern about picking it out amongst foliage.

How many people even make IER scopes? Of the decent names, I've only seen Leupold and Burris, and heard good things about each.
