beemerb's project .41
Early this year Bob picked up a "parts gun" model 57. It was suffering from massive external corrosion and the lockwork left a lot to be desired.

He cut the barrel to 3 3/8" and reshaped the lug. Made and installed a front sight. Slicked up the action so that it is now a dream to shoot either single or double action.

He is in it a total of $165 plus quite a bit of time.

And it is a tackdriver.

Interesting...had stored the pic in Testing.
Finished the post this evening and moved it to Revolvers.
And it was buried in the pack with original date of Oct 12.

So what are the plans for the exterior of the gun?

Early American ugly, or what?

EAU.
Tho no structrual threat, many of the pits are way too deep to grind n polish out.

Not a beauty contestant, but tis a good packin n shootin gun.

Looks a lot like a 3.5" model 27. Spiffy. ;)

I saw a "beater" 1911 change hands once - - - Similar, in that it had many DEEP pits, though not structurally dangerous. FUGLY gun!

Saw same gun a couple of years later and didn't recognize it. The owner had gotten together with an engraver and showed him what he wanted done. The 'graver worked up a vines-and-leaves design and incorporated the worst pitting into the backgrounding.

Once I was told what to look for, I could see it, but it was a great job.

I'm still trying to track down a shooter model 58 for myself . . . .

Best,
Johnny
