[Dilettante]

I'm wondering about different peoples' experience in selling guns. Where do you get the best price? How long does it take?
This is not a "sell" post, I'm just trying to get advice. The gun in question belongs to an acquaintance--it's a nice rifle and comes with a good scope.

A store or a guy with a table at a gunshow is the worst prospect, because he must factor in his future profit.

Posting an ad here, or possibly in your local newspaper or trade paper (Thrifty nickel) will probably bring the closest to retail.

Internet sales always have a certain amount of risk about getting paid, which is why PayPal can be a Good Thing. Money Orders are to be preferred over checks, of course.

Newpaper ad sales can result in some problems with somebody trying some sort of ripoff, although I've never had any problem with that. (Either buying or selling, although I've done more buying, that way, than selling.)
