Around a year ago I told of my woes with a beltsanding accident and my 642's finish. I had buffed it down to no finish on the frame at the time after giving up on fixing the scuffs. At the time I promised to post a Pic--Well stuff happens and I never did. So here ya go--http://www.2rco.com/sitebuilder/images/Aiweight_1-600x450.jpg

Not bad. Although you may want to put some finish on it to prevent the steel parts from rusting. There's damn little actual steel in an Airweight, I know, but it's good to take proper precautions.

The 642 Airweight guns have a stainless steel cylinder/crane assembly, barrel, thumb latch, and ejector rod. The trigger is steel. The frame itself is the only aluminum alloy part.

Cocked and Locked is correct. I just Buffed the frame (aluminum alloy) and scuffed it with a brillo pad to make it look like brushed stainless.

I originally mirror polished it but it scratched easily.

Nice job, just keep some Rem oil on the outside of everything and you'll be fine.

I'm curious about the belt sanding accident but I'm too lazy to look for it. How about a brief recap? I'm guessing there's a chuckle in there somewhere.

Cocked and Locked -- what grips are those?

I know there are many out there, but those look like something I'd want.

Those are Craig Spegel grips I got mine here:
http://www.lightningarms.com/products.htm

Good folks to do business with.

They are specially made for the Centennial frame.

Yep, they are made by Craig Spegal. No grips feel better in the hand than Spegals. Each set is signed and dated inside.

Maybe not "better", but I gotta give Jim Badger props, too.

And I tried to buy Spegel's for my snub, but he said he was 4-6 months out from producing another batch. Badger was my backup and didn't let me down.

The Badgers look great but I've not tried those...got a good source for them?

Thanks

2Arco:
What kind of ivory grips are on your pistol (Spegel?). They are beautiful!

If Spegal or other, do they make grips for a Ruger SP101?

It pains me to say it but the J-Frame grips are Ajax. They are a set I had laying around.

The sanding accident was part of a 2RCo project to make J-Frame grips. I'll have some out eventually but right now I'm just trying to keep up with normal orders and my other business.
