I received the Feb., 04 issue of "Shooting Times" last week and the Beretta looks pretty nice to me. Anyone have an opinion on that one? Looks well made.

I saw several at the last gunshow. A couple has very nice royal blueing. Really I don't see how these are any better than equivalent Cimmarron Arms models (from what I understand, Uberti makes guns for both companies). If the price is OK, I'd probably buy one, but knowing Beretta, they'll overprice it and kill the market.

Stampede has a transfer bar safety; it is not just a Uberti Colt clone with Beretta trademark. I call that a disadvantage and am glad of my Cimarron and Colt SAs. But the one I saw Saturday did have a nice "true blue" charcoal type finish. Just like a Cimarron with same.

There's been a lot of reports on these on the forums at www.sassnet.com - and you can use the search engine without being a registered user.
Short form: people seem pleasantly surprised that the transfer bar hasn't screwed up the trigger feel. All other quality comments are positive. If Beretta maintains this level of QC, some people who DO want the transfer bar are going to be steered this direction vs. the Vaquero.
I'm one of those people who, all else being equal, wants a transfer bar. In 357 or 45LC (NOT with "Ruger ONLY" +P) you've got a very effective woods-totin' gun for the lower 48, not just a "Cowboy action shooting toy". Heck, CCW with these or a Vaq isn't out of the question.

I want the authentic feel of the SAA, with the half-cock reloading, but want the transfer bar for safety. Why not use all six chambers?
The Ruger Vaquero is heavier than a real Colt SAA, and has a different trigger feel/mechanism.
AFAIK, the Stampede is my only choice. I'll be getting one shortly.

The rules man, the rules.
There are still a lot of revolver shooters that carry on an empty chamber, even with a ruger.
CCW with a vaquero? I passed on a skeleton shoulder rig for my 7.5 inch glossy stainless 44... it was even on sale!:uhoh:
What on earth was I thinking?
