I have heard that 6.5g of Unique is considered the GI ball equivalent. Does that sound right to everyone?

What are "GI equivalent" loads with some other common powders, such as Power Pistol, W231, Titegroup, etc?

Yes, with jacketed 230 grain bullets.
Lead bullets is probably more like 6.0 grains.

Or: 230 FMJ-RN:
4.6 Bullseye.
5.6 WW-231

Use your load manual and find the desired 830 FPS speed, and you should be close with any powder you want to use.

6.5 grs of Unique is probably a bit warmer than they typical GI ball. I've settled on 6.1grs of Unique for ball equivalent ammo, when lit by a WLPP it pushes a Remington bulk 230 gr FMJ out the muzzle of both my Commander and Gov models between 850 to 860 fps chrono measured.

I load 5.5gr W231 under a 230gr FMJ bullet and it's extremely close to the GI Ball ammo.

I can't disagree with the data posted above by "rcmodel" either.

All I know is the 6.5 / 230 ball load puts the empty brass in the same pile, and shoots to the same sight settings as GI National Match ammo out of both my National Match Colts.
Close enough for me.

My .45ACP reloads are normally cast bullets of either 200 or 225 grains. I use 5.6 grains of 231 for either. It's a fine load either way.

I use 6.4 grains of unique under a 230 grain bullet. works just fine and is very accurate out of my CZ.

I dont understand I put 6.0 grains in mine and the brass is so hot you cant pick it up. and my arms are peppered with upburnt powder... This is what I tried last weekend 230FMJ Winchester, Winchester brass , winchester Primer, 6 grains of unique. 5" XD45. Kicked like hell and peppered my arms with powder? Any Ideas??

All powder has residue, that's where they get powder burn and other information from guns shots in real life and CSI TV shows. All that residue goes out the end of the muzzle when shooting a Semi. Revolvers will spit both burned powder and lead out the cylinder gap, more so with large cylinder gap or when out of time . Unless you have some way for the residue to come back at you, IE bouncing off a target set real close or shooting between range barriers or a wall it normally isn't something you notice.
