I'm wanting it to look nice, so I want a blued extension and hopefully a blued 18.5" barrel. Please recommend products for this purpiose....also will a surefire forend fit on a wingmaster?

Go with a 20" factory barrel with rifle sights and a factory mag extension. My "tactical" 870 wingmaster does double duty as my hunting shotgun. I also put a qd sling on it. My 870 looks good and is smooth as butter! Beautiful walnut and beautiful deep blue steel does more justice to an American classic.

You might want aperture sights instead of rifle sights. Or just use the regular sight.

Personally, I'm a fan of plain old bead sights and shortest possible legal length - partially why I'm selling my 590...I'd rather have the shorter barrel and lose a shot or two. I'm hoping to find a blued bead sight 18.5" barrel and blued mag extension that goes flush to the end of the barrel. If worse comes to worse, I've thought about having receiver duracoated in Matte finish to match a matte 18.5" barrel. I know the purists will cry foul here, but the bottom line here is if I do that, will it interfere with the smoothness of the action at all?

Choate makes their extensions in a tough blue-black finish.
Choate is probably the best price/quality extension.
Buy them from Brownell's, Midway USA, or direct from Choate.
You can buy 18" satin blued barrels for the 870 from Midway and direct from Remington.
You can get them from Midway made by Remington or as an 870 barrel made by Mossberg.
