for the 7.62x39mm round? It would seem an excellent candidate for a 'bear gun' or big game pistol. Anyone ever seen or heard of such a thing? [lso posted on autoloaders]

Way too much power.

NO.

Bottleneck rifle cases of that magnitude don't get along well with revolvers.

The case expands rearward, the shoulder moves forward, and the case binds up the cylinder so tight it won't turn.

Besides the relatively slow burning rifle powder used in the 7.62x39 would be a flame-thrower out of a revolver cylinder gap.

excellent candidate for a 'bear gun' or big game pistol.Any number of big-bore revolver calibers would out-perform it on big or dangerous game, even if it did work.

30-30 yes, but no 7.63x39.

Get a T/C Contender.

Are those revolvers or single-shot breech loaders? Thanks!

Those are not revolvers, however, I think 7.63x39 out of a rifle might be close to some of the bigger magnum calibers from a revolver, maybe the .480 ruger, .454, .475, or you could even try a .460 S&W. However, all of those will have a lot of recoil, and not only will they not be easy to shoot well, they can give you a flinch, making you shoot less accurately with other guns.

the 30-30 is a single action revolver made by Magnum Research....its called the BFR.....they also make it in a 45/70 :what: and some other hard hittin calibers

the T/C Contender on the other hand is a single shot breech loader.....comes in a wide variety of calibers too

The rimmed 45-70 is a straight tapered case and the rimmed 30-30 is not headspaced on the shoulder like a 7.62x39 would have to be.

There used to be a video around of someone shooting an ADC Model 1 with 6" barrels in 7.62X39. It was pretty impressive, but not something I'd want.
