What would you rather get a plain 20" AR or a nice 18" SPR setup.

The purpose of this would be to push the range of my current m4gery out to 500 yds or so. Whichever, it would have a 3-9 or similar power scope and be used with 69-77 gr 5.56.

I can put the money into a nice 18" SPR (or another accurate like larue tactical) or get a standard 20" (bushy, dpms, etc...flat-top upper. What do you guys think?

18" because it's the best of both worlds, wish I could get one:)

I have a 18" SPR, and i love it. The 2" does make it more manuverable, albeit not much. Mostly it weighs less, espically since i have a heavy barrel on it.

There's a coolness about the 18-incher

For 500 yard shooting I would look for all the velocity I could get and run the 20". I personally love the 18" barrels but they aren't what I would use for 500 yard paper punching. They do make a great all around barrel though but seeing how you already have a 16" I don't see why you would compromise velocity here. If it were to be my only AR I would seriously consider the 18" but as is I would go 20".
