Zed, I really hope you guy's over there just give up and figure out a way get your hands on a gun. keep it, hide it, live it, love it. The gov. can't/wont protect you, and if they fear you armed, you should fear them armed. I don't want you to reply to this, I just hope all the Good guy's in the UK stay armed, because the bag guy's most assuredly will be.

This thread should be closed, as it's simply insane!
Weapons are outlawed in GB. Against the law!
Therefore, there simply can't be any in private hands, much less a "gun culture".
That being the case, it's gotta be about time to investigate the government agents, since they are the only armed people.
Still, only .04% of the crimes involve guns, and only 25% of the population is victimized in any given year (one presumes that excludes their IRS), and, besides, they have how many million in population, so how can a few hundred or so bodies drive policy?
Wish I'd seen the Imperial War Museum when I was stationed in Germany in the '70's, since I can't see any way this side of hell I'd subject myself, or more importantly my favorite female, since I'm hardly likely to go anywhere without her, to that level of risk.
Sorry, agricola, but there is the risk/benefit calculation to be made, and, in this case it's easy.

how curious it is that Zedicus can find the time to look through KABA for stories and yet he remains unable to evidence previous statements - is it because they were made up?
please, if we are going to debate the UK can we at least use people who actually know things, instead of make them up.
edit: since he apparently has me on ignore for pointing his fibbery out to him, can someone please remind this alleged UK resident that Dublin is, and has been for several decades, in the Republic of Ireland, and not the UK.

from: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,3604,1060583,00.htmlIt is thought that 160 handguns enter the UK every year intended for criminal use.
Suppose they lost a few significant digits in there somewhere?
