Just a truly awesome statement about the peoples ability to resist.

For those of you not up to date on the crisis in Pakistan, large numbers of Taliban militants are slowly taking over a nuclear armed country, they've already had one government official put into office by their recommendation, and have instituted "Muslim" (Shariah) law in 1/3rd of the country. now their people are rejecting security forces and defending their villages themselves

Sources in Beengar, Kingargali and Karakar said the villagers were making trenches and digging up roads, as they feared that Taliban fighters from Swat were planning to march into Buner. The inhabitants of Sultanwas village had evacuated their houses and sent womenfolk and children to stay with their relatives in other villages. The men had collected weapons and set up bunkers in the hills above the village for self-defence.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that villagers in Chagharzai, Amazai, Chamla and Khadukhel held separate, largely attended, Jirgas in which they made it clear to the government that they were opposed to the presence of both Taliban militants and the security forces in their areas and would instead prefer to defend their villages on their own.

please keep the polly-ticks to yourself. this is just interesting as it is the citizens using their arms to defend their lives and liberties.
