I have a mod 66. Paid $429 so ya your price sounds good.

I once bought a Model 65 for $125 and sold it for $150. What a dummy.

If I recall, it would be a 4" (most likely) blue steel, fixed-sight .357; these days, I guess $300 would be about right.

I've always been satisfied with the 5 Taurus handguns I have but there will be others that disagree.

I have a model 66 with a 4" barrel I bought new for about $200, if I remember correctly. However, that was back in 1987.
Taurus guns have an iffy reputation. Some here will tell you that they're junk, and that "if you value your life, you won't trust it to anything less than (insert name of trendy, precision-platinum, signature-series, limited-edition, finesse-finished piece costing at least eleventy-billion)"...
I think they've some some considerable way over the years. I've been happy with mine, and a lot of owners of more recent Taurus guns are with theirs.
For casual plinking and personal/home defense, a Taurus will more than suffice. Spend the saved dough on some more ammo for practice or fun.
In today's market, $300 for a good-conditioned example sounds quite fair.

I like Taurus handguns; I own or have owned a few, and all have been quite good. My satin-nickel PT-99AF (9mm semi-auto) is an excellent handgun. The revolvers have been great, too.

I know there are lemons out there, but I've had nothing but good luck with Taurus.
