Hello,

I have cast some R.E.A.L. bullets cal.45 / 200grs and done some test with my Pedersoli pistol :

25meters, 2 handhold . 28grs BP, and some crisco on the bullet . No cleaning of barrel for the 10 bullets session. Recoil is stout and holes are as wadcut and bigger than usual (rather cal.50 size).

It is a lot of fun and quite accurate, but due to recoil duelist shooting accuracy is challenging and will request some training !!

Very impressive!
Are you using an over powder wad?

No wad between the powder and Lee bullet.
Without crisco on the bullet I had to clean the barrel after 3 or 4 shot due to fouling not allowing for bullet going down the bore ; but with crisco on the bullet it seems that I can do without cleaning or less frequently. May be I will try some cornmeal between powder and bullet.

I do not have a chrono but the speed is obviously high

Borebutter. i just lube them up with bore butter. About a year ago i bought some Hornady .50 cal swaged bullets. best part of it was the plastic holder that holds in place 20 bullets. Well after i used them i just bore buttered my REAL bullets and place them in the holder. so when i go to the range i just pull out the bullets 1 at a time all pre lubed.

I don't think that I would use only a filler to seal the gases with.
An overpowder wad would act more like a gas check for the flat based bullet and not be as much of a cushion.
But a filler might still be worth trying.
My Swedish friend shoots the .45 REAL in his Traditions Trapper pistol with a homemade waxboard wad made from juice & dairy cartons. He told me that this heavy paper wad shoots good for him. Or maybe he's just kidding me because I mentioned the idea to him.
If you're going to use a filler then I would still want to try it with an overpowder wad, and if you also want to try it without one then that's another experiment.
It's always fun to invent reasons to shoot some more bullets!
If using cornmeal filler works better than just using an overpowder wad alone then I'll need to tell my friend about it. :D

Hello,

I added 15gr of cornmeal between BP and Lee bullet . the point is that I can add some crisco on top of cornmeal in addition to the crisco in the grooves of the bullet ; That way the bore keeps perfectly clean and I can shoot whole day without cleaning.

I also tried 60gr of BP : WOOPS !!!!!! very impressive !! beware the knuckel if gun not firmly hold

By the way I had just shot one 460 Smith§Wesson (300gr bullet) previously thanks to a friend shooting his new handgun : very impressive also !

regards
