Some of you might be aware that, for whatever reason, Uberti no longer makes these with the correct 'plain' cylinder - they're using the same 'scenic' cylinder as the rest of the 1851s. And they don't offer it as a piece part either.
I spent the week in Jackson, TN and drove up to Dixie Gun Works yesterday...among other interesting things, they had a box marked "Uberti Leech & Rigdon cylinders"...and lo, there were six of the old plain ones.
I bought one - I don't own a L&R, but ya never know, someday. The price was right, $49.95 - and thought I'd pass this along to anyone else in need. If you call to order, they don't have a part number for them - they're in a glass-topped display case out front, in a little cardboard box.

Thanks. I have a L&R I bought in 1992 or 3. It has the plain cylinder.
Also has the grip finished off a different way than Uberti's more recently made guns. I forget the date code but I looked it up and was surprised that it had been manufactured in the late '80s (it had probably been on a shelf at Dixie Gun Works for a few years!).
It is odd Uberti would be using Colt 1851 Navy cylinders. I would expect this sort of thing from Pietta, or Army San Marco were they still around ... but Uberti?

Uberti seems to be cleaning up their line. They dropped the Paterson altogether and have reduced the number of 'versions' of some of the other guns. I'm actually kinda surprised they still do the L&R at all, since the barrel on it isn't used on anything else.
It appears as though the civilian 1860 with steel backstrap is gone, as are the 4.5" versions of the pocket Navy and 1862.
They also aren't listing the 5.5" versions of the Remingtons, but I think those are actually still being made.
FWIW, the L&R they had in the case had the smooth cylinder too, but I think their display guns have been there for a while.
I wonder what they used to make...my Walker's box has a picture of a brass-framed Griswold on it, so I guess they used to do brassers too.

My Leech & Rigdon has a plain cylinder as well. 40 years ago I had a Navy Arms "Reb", a brass framed 1851 made by Uberti.
