We need to make the NRA do something.

I remember quite a while back, a while after the '94 AWB passed, the NRA put out a small infomercial debunking the "facts" spouted that caused the bill to pass.
We need to make them get this on the airwaves now to let the Uninformed Joe know what is going on!
How can we get in touch with the NRA and tell them to get going on this? This is one of the things I would like to see them doing (as a member).
What do you think? Can we light a fire under them?

I dunno. The more I read about them, the more they seem like the 800lb Neville Chamberlain of the gun control issue.
I think what we really need is to all switch memberships from the NRA to the JPFO. Those guys are actually going to help us, rather than compromise everything away behind closed doors.

I saw a redefinition of NRA: Not Relevant Anymore.
The NRA somehow reminds me of the Jews that collaborated with the Nazis to try to curry favor with the thugs and somehow save their own skins at the expense of their kin. (It didn't work for very long, did it?)
You are right about JPFO being the fighters in the battle! I understand that GOA is also a legitimate supporter of our constitutionaly recognized rights. Anyone a GOA member?
As far as demanding that any particular group DO SOMETHING... I believe in voting with my money and my feet: If the group is doing what I believe in, I support it. If not, See Ya! Simple as that. (Hear, hear, Ian!!)
It's US that need to be doing SOMETHING! I apologize for repeating what great minds have already said, but...
-Take somebody shooting.
-Teach somebody what the Law of the Land REALLY says. (Have them actually READ the Constitution, the Federal letters and all of the founding father's writings...)
-Hand 'em a Grampa Jack brochure from JPFO.
-Wake up sleeping minds!
-Give a box of ammo and a Grampa Jack brochure to a gun owner who doesn't know what a police state our country has become...
You get the picture!
I now relinquish my stump to the next speaker!

Anyone a GOA member?
Yep. The G.O.A. is what the N.R.A. ought to be. I support both, but of late, I've been sending more money to the G.O.A.

I'm a GOA member. Used to be an NRA member, but no more.
Can anyone picture the NRA funding and distributing Innocents Betrayed? Yeah, I didn't think so. :)

Ahem :).
May I put in a plug for the CCRKBA and SAF?
CCRKBA was creative enough to hire somebody quite unusual for the job of California rep.
Me :D.
OK, more seriously: CCRKBA and SAF are "two halves of the same whole" in the same way NRA and NRA/ILA are - political and non-political wings. I'm paid out of the political (CCRKBA) wing of course. (The financial split between the two is crucial - getting it wrong is what the Commie Mommies screwed up.) SAF is in turn much like JPFO, an educational group that can get involved in court stuff. There's a lot you can do with that status but by splitting out into two groups, you get the best of both worlds.
In some ways, GOA and JPFO act together enough to get most of the same benefits but the relationship isn't as close as the CCRKBA/SAF and NRA/NRAILA connections.

I still waiting for someone to tell me what the GOA has done on their own except adopt a catchy motto.

Folks, the NRA is a bureaucracy, and as such, it is easy for it to become out of touch with the heartfelt concerns of its rank & file membership. Generally speaking, every level of the NRA shares the same concerns & goals, but if the leadership does not receive constant input & direction from the people who pay the bills (you & me) they are apt to act in what they perceive as the best interest of America's gun owning public.
This leaves all the dissatisfied due paying members two options... they can whine anonymously on the Internet & resign their memberships, which accomplishes nothing productive, or they can remain members, control the purse strings, and actively make their opinions & feelings heard by the NRA hierarchy!
Here is a link to the NRA's contact info (National, Regional & Local) & some sample letters to get you started in the habit of letting your voice be heard... http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=195372&w=myTopicPop
Love or hate the NRA, but do let them know where you stand & what direction you want YOUR organization to take!!!
