Picked up an interesting gun. This is a Caywood that has a lock that appears to be a Flintlock to Caplock conversion. Not something you see everyday...

The gun is a 41.5" English Fowler in a 20 ga. It shoots either .600 ball or a built up loading of shot. All iron on the furniture and this one carries a set of front and rear sights...

Had a chance to shoot it yesterday and must say that for a smoothbore, it is very accurate. As a shotgun it patterned very well at 30 yards...

IIRC, that's how Caywood produces his percussion guns since he specializes in building flintlocks.
A long time ago, someone on the muzzle loading forum had ordered one and didn't realize that it would look like a conversion gun. He was so disappointed that he vocally complained about Caywood and a public flap ensued.
Caywood basically told him that if he didn't like it, that was just too bad!
I have to admit that yours looks very nicely done though.
And according to the Caywood website, there's many caliber/gauge conversion barrels available for it too.
