How many firings before annealing?

H1500308 April 26, 2009, 05:08 PM Do any of you have a rule of thumb you use for annealing? I'm about to load some .308 brass for the fourth firing and wonder if I need to anneal the necks.
It's Remington .308 brass with 45.5 IMR4895 behind a 150g HDY BTSP. I neck size only and all firings have been in the same bolt action chamber.

kelbro April 26, 2009, 06:01 PM I usually do 223, 243, and 308 after 3 - 5 firings. Just depends on how much neck springback I get when necksizing.
ranger335v April 26, 2009, 06:22 PM 5-6.
Mark whiz April 26, 2009, 07:52 PM I go with 3 to 4 firings........... but that is when shot out of a semi-auto.
Since you are using a bolt gun and neck-sizing only - I would think you could let it go longer, maybe the 5 to 6 route.

ArchAngelCD April 27, 2009, 02:46 AM I don't anneal my brass, I just reload it until the neck splits. That doesn't usually happen quickly when neck sizing only.
