I'm wondering how ranger will change the way they do business in order to make it easier for new people who aren't used to guns.

Are there any ranges where members can bring guests for free? (At least the first time.)

At a lot of gyms there are kids' sections where they play while their parents work out. Any ranges with something like that? Next door?

I'm a big fan of Chabot gun club's small bore class: $5 for instruction, an old .22 rifle, and ammunition for the morning and afternon. Every fourth Saturday, and you can come as many times as you like.

What other ideas do some ranges use to try to bring in people who aren't used to shooting?

Almost range I've ever been to is a very bare bones setup.

Equipment shot up, place is dirty, unkempt and shows very little reinvestment or pride taken in the facilities.

Maybe since there are only 4 outdoor shooting ranges within an hour of my house and 0 indoor they think they can get by with the bare minimum of upkeep and innovation.

One of the Ranges I go to is set up pretty nice with good benches and
is kept clean. But that is their only business. You walk up to an old RV
with the wheels taken off, knock on the window and they take your money and assign you a table.

Either no one is doing it right or there is no money in the shooting range business.

In urban areas you find more indoor ranges. I've been a few times to one in Vacaville, and once to a range in Sacramento.

They're pretty clean and well-run, but are set up mostly for people who like guns already.

Obviously that's where the near-term profit is, but it doesn't bring in anyone who's not already interested in guns.

I'm sorry to hear the ranges in S Texas aren't nicer than that. Are there more informal places to shoot in S Texas? That might be part of it.
