Fella just got finished removing the bluing from his 1862 police model. back strap and trigger guard are silver. he lightly sanded some spots on them used the Venegar method to bring out an aged looking shooter. Im sure he will post as soon as he sees this. Posting pictures for him.

Scrat, I love that vinegar method. I did not soak it for long, only about 5 minutes. After that I did not like how new the case coloring and silver looked so I sanded the frame. I was suprised how easily that color came off. I lightly sanded the silver and grips. I think that I need to do more work on the grips. The next time that I do one, I am going to mask the flutes in the cylinder for a more authentic worn look. Smoking Gun has a Colt 1862 that has the best looking finish of any gun that I have ever seen. I was trying to get close to that look. Scrat, thanks again for all of the info in PM's and I wish the pictures would do it justice, it looks great in person.
