My grandfather gave me this gun on my 19th birthday, I was just curious if anyone knew anything about it?

Mainly what I was wondering was when it was made. No where on it could I find a serial number.

I have NO intentions on selling it, but if you have an idea of an approximate value let me know.

--now that I've looked through my pictures, is the model name Springfield, and the maker J.Stevens Arms Company?

Springfield is said to be the Stevens economy model brand name but this one looks pretty good, even a checkered pistol grip. It looks like a Model 94 of which they made nearly a million between 1926 and 1945, not to mention the 94C after WW II. I hate to guess dollar values especially for family guns claimed never to be sold, but call it $100.

thanks Jim. Its worth a lot more than $100 to me. someday I hope to give it to my son or grandson.

You might consider having the muzzle fitted for screw in chokes, and that way have a really versatile shooter for the boy!
