Had to bring my dog to the vet yesterday for her annual check-up, she is an 11yr old Jack Russell. Vet did the normal tests consisting of Stool sample, blood work and such.

Vet called me back today to tell me she has Heart Worms.
Gave me a print-out of how they are contracted, treated and such.

Have any of you had a pet that has contracted Heart Worms? and if so, what was the outcome?

I remeber earning the Dog Care merit badge for Boy Scouts. One of the things I had to do was to go talk to a vet about dog care. Something I'll never forget is being shown the pickled heart of a dog that had died from heartworms.

It's very sad.

Luckily it can be treated.

I'd suggest that you do a search on Google or Yahoo for either information websites or dog-related forums where you'll be able to find up-to-date info from other dog lovers.
