Intruder shot by homeowner apparently brother-in-law By S.K. BARDWELL
Copyright 2003 Houston Chronicle

A suspected burglar shot and critically wounded in north Harris County
early today turned out to be the brother-in-law of the homeowner who
shot him, officials said.

The incident happened about 3 a.m. when a homeowner in the Riverwood
subdivision heard someone breaking into his house on Countryside,
authorities said.

The homeowner fired on the intruder, who officials say also was armed,
and struck him at least once in the leg.

The homeowner then learned the identity of the intruder, with whom there
apparently had been problems previously, deputies said.

The suspect is in critical condition at Ben Taub Hospital. Deputies said
evidence in the shooting likely will be forwarded to a grand jury
without charges.

In-laws are the spouse's family members when they are outside of your home. Outlaws are the spouse's family members when they are in your home.

Some of my in-laws ARE outlaws, literally.

We actually moved two states away and use a PO Box just to keep our address unknown to them.

Keeps them safer too ;)

"Some of my in-laws ARE outlaws, literally." Lol - yikes, Tallpine. Hey, as long as you can convince her to break away, then good deal... When you marry, you marry the WHOLE family unfortunately, eh? Never been married here, but rest assured, if I do, I will investigate and consider the temperament/personality/beliefs of any in-laws that the would-be wife has a close relationship with, particularly mother. Good shoot.

Hey, as long as you can convince her to break away,
No problem there, at least after some years had gone by.

You don't want to know the whole story ... let's just say it was partly to protect our children.

The suspect is in critical condition at Ben Taub Hospital...

...where the tax payers will most probably get to pick up the tab for his medical treatment.
