3 gun rifle optics with production pistol?

I'm new to USPSA matches, only shot 1, just the pistol stages, loved it. My question is if I shoot production pistol, can I shoot my SIG 556 with an Aimpoint sight in the rifle stages? Or do I have to use open/iron sights on the rifle as well?
